PVC-O Pipes

The global crisis has brought new challenges to the water industry. The water infrastructure sector is forcing to lower product and installation cost, boosting installers and pipe manufacturers to offer alternative solutions more efficient. Currently pipe materials are used for water transport include mainly plastics (PVC, HDPE) and metals (Ductile Iron, Cast Iron). Plastic materials are more likely to be used for small and medium water nets, with pressures ranging up to PN 16 bars, due to material brittleness and low impact resistance restrictions. Ductile iron is used for large

water nets, in pressure PN 25 bars. However, other troubles arise due to corrosion and therefore, service life expectancy is compromised.

In the recent years, new technologies have emerged to manufacture PVC-O pipes that considerably improve the traditionally mechanical properties of plastic pipes. International standards rule the PVC-O pressure requirements, which enable pressure pipe applications up to PN 25 bars.

Pioneers in the line of manufacturing of plastic pipes in India, Ori-Plast launches PVC-O Pipes.

The pipes are made complying to the Standards ISO 16422 and IS 1616.

Product Range

PVC-O pipes have a wide range able to cover all the needs of medium and high pressures. Ronix is manufacturing PVC-O pipes in nominal diameters (DN) 90, 110, 140, 160, 200, 225, 250, 280 and 315 mm and pressures (PN) 16 and 25 bars.

Features

Hydraulic capacity: The PVC-O piping systems thickness has greater internal dia and better flow section due to Molecular Orientation, reduces the thickness of the pipe wall and have 15% and 40% more hydraulic capacity. Its internal surface is very smooth, hence reduce load loss.

Unbeatable impact resistance: PVC-O pipes has no risk of bursting during installation due to stone dropping or impact is marginal and do not burst by regular impacts. The layered structure achieved with the molecular orientation process keeps from crack propagation and scratches.

No crack propagation: The layered structure achieved with the Molecular Orientation process is the main feature which prevents from crack propagation along the pipe wall thickness. During the installation, scratches caused by stones on the site might be produced. When cracks appear, they progress through the amorphous wall structure. In PVC-O CLASS pipes, these cracks remain on the first layers, not affecting the pipe’s properties at all.

Flexibility: PVC-O pipes have excellent elasticity, can withstand deformations of their internal diameter without the appearance of fissures. If the pipes are flattened, or if they are involved in any kind of mechanical accident, they immediately go back to their original shape.

Fully watertight: PVC-O pipes have a seal composed of a polypropylene ring and a synthetic rubber lip that makes them a watertight fit.

Application

  • Supply of water.
  • Water transport pipes for irrigation purposes, water transfer to tanks and reservoirs.
  • Sewage.
  • Fire protection nets.
  • Industrial applications. Infrastructure nets

PVC-O pipes are manufactured according to ISO 16422-2014, Pipes and Joints Made of Oriented Unplasticized Poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-O) for the Conveyance of Water under Pressure-Specifications. PVC-O pipes are supplied in total length (including socket length) of 5.8 m, but other lengths for special projects may be considered

Unplasticised PVC (PVC-U) and molecularly oriented PVC (PVC-O) pipes and fittings are widely used for the distribution of water under pressure. The main application is the distribution of drinking water. The diameters are of medium size (generally between 75 mm and 250 mm). The main characteristic of these pipes is the long term resistance to pressure (assessed according to ISO 9080) which is expressed as the MRS (Minimum Required Stress.

The pipes for irrigation have similar geometrical and mechanical characteristics

With increasing rainfall due to climate change, reliable gutter systems will become more and more needed.

For many years, European building owners have benefited from PVC’s unique functional properties. PVC rain gutters and downpipes can withstand extremely low temperatures, salty air and air pollution. In contrast to other materials they do not corrode or rust, and when the building is renovated the gutters can be taken apart, crushed and recycled.

Due to the material’s chemical composition, PVC gutters can be recycled repeatedly without any loss of quality.
