PVC Pipes & Fittings

The most versatile range of unplasticised PVC pipes manufactured in working pressure ratings of 2.5, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12.5 Kg f /cm2 as per IS:4985 in grey colour and a very wide size from ½” to 12” as per BS 3505 specification. These pipes are available a) Plain ended Pipe b) Socketed pipe for solvent cement jointing c) Socketed pipe for elastomeric sealing ring jointing. The PVC pipes and fittings have unique advantage like chemical resistance, Non-conductor of electricity, Non-toxic & non-corrosive and less friction loss. The pipes and fittings are ideal for Portable Water Supply, Tube Well Casing, Chemical Effluent Disposal, Sewerage, Rain water drainage, pulverized material, and Agricultural Irrigation.

Advantage:

  1. Low cost of Materials
  2. Easy Handling-Light in weight as such it is 1/6th of the weight of cast iron & steel.
  3. Easy Transportation- light in weight
  4. Easy installation and quick jointing by solvent cement- much easier than conventional metal or AC Pipes
  5. Low installation cost- Faster execution and less labour results contractor costs 30% lower than for cast iron pipes.
  6. Nontoxic & non corrosive
  7. Resistant to every variety of most chemicals
  8. Less frictional losses_ Smooth bore, resulting in greater flow of water. The Hazen Williams constant for UPVC pipes is 150to 160 which is higher than for any other material.
  9. Resistance to abrasion.
  10. Nonconductor of electricity.
  11. Low thermal conductivity.
  12. No scaling or deposit formation- electrochemical action does not take place.
  13. Low operating & maintainenance cost-20to30% less pumping energy required.
  14. Can be joined to other material.
  15. Low energy cost in manufacturing-The plastic pipes consume only 1/5th of the energy to manufacture in comparison to metal pipes.
  16. Self colour-No painting required.
  17. Unaffected by termite, fungus, or bacteria
  18. Physiologically harmless-
  19. Self-extinguishing quality eliminates need for fire resistant coating
  20. Odorless and hygienic for transporting portable water as they do not subject to contamination.

Installation of Ronix PVC Pipes

(A) Solvent cement jointing is the most commonly used method of joining of PVC pipes as this method is very quick, easy & simple. While using solvent cement, the following points should be considered:-

  1. Clean the male & female pipe ends by cleaning off the burns.
  2. Clean the surface which are to be glued with sand paper.
  3.  Brush solvent cement on both the surfaces.
  4. Insert the pipe and give it a quarter turn to ensure even distribution of the cement over the mating surface. The excess cement which is pushed out f socket must be removed at once with a clean cloth.
  5. Joints should not be disturbed for atleast 3minutes at room temperature. The strenth of the joint properly done is of the order of 60kg/cm2 in tension.

Careful attention to the recommending procedure is important and will pay dividend in satisfactory service of the pipe line system.

(B) Hot air welding:- Ronix Pvc pipes and fittings can be welded with Hot air and a filler rod called PVC welding rod.

Welding rod and weld bed are heated simultaneously by a stream of Hot air issuing from the welding torch. As the two meeting surfaces sogten they fuse together to form a homogeneous bond.
